Kristen Mun-Van Noy
Fight Choreographer, Violence Designer, and Theatrical Combat Teacher
ABOUT
ABOUT ME
My name is Kristen Mun- Van Noy and I am a fight choreographer born and raised on Oahu. I have been training, teaching, and working in the field of theatrical combat for a almost 20 years. I am a certified teacher with Dueling Arts International, trained with Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Resident Fight Choreographer Jon Toppo, and recently published Fight Choreographer Christopher Duval.
WHAT I'VE DONE
I am currently based in Portland, Oregon. Where I choreograph roughly 20 shows a year and also teach fight workshops for different educational establishments. I have received recognition for my work by the Portland Drammy committee 4 times and was the recipient of the 2015 Leslie O. Fulton Fellowship, which allowed me to start my own personal armory.
WHAT I DO
I am a violence designer. As a fight choreographer I believe that the violence should assist the story not hinder it. The fights I build are directly connected to the actor executing the fight and the character they are playing. I believe in collaboration, everyone's input is important and we can solve problems faster when we work together.
